Kumasi Central Prisons has revealed that feeding inmates at the correction center, has become a major challenge.
The Kumasi Central Prison receives GHc1.80 pesewas per inmate for daily feeding.
In an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah on Oyerepa Breakfast Show , ADP Alhaji Osmanne Desambedo said the amount isn’t enough to feed the inmates.
He said, several complaints have been made to government to add little amount to the existing one in order to be able to feed the inmates, yet all has proven futile.
He revealed that, the Kumasi Prisons lack vehicles to facilitate their operations.
ADP Alhaji Osmanne added that sanitation is another critical challenge which is greatly affecting detention center.
That notwithstanding , as part of measures to help inmates after their release, he suggested that there should be a kind of setup capital for ex-convicts and this will bring proper reforms in their lives.
He however, made a clarion call on the general public and organizations as part of their corporate social responsibilities, extend a helping hand to the prisons and this he believes will also help ease some burden.
