Nana Otupiri Kwagyan II, chief of Abetifi Kubease and members of the Etena clan of Kwahu Abetifi in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region are calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr George Akuffo Dampare and his men to as a matter of urgency, arrest and prosecute persons who broke into his house and forcibly assaulted and picked him up to the Kwahu Abene palace for no misconduct.
According to the over 70 years stroke bound chief, he and his family now live in fear and do not what the future looks like for them after these thugs, most of whom he could identify pounced on him with guns and inflicted machete wounds on his Grandchildren who attempted to rescue him in the early hours of Monday 16th October 2023.
BACKGROUND
Monday, 16th October 2023, Nana Ottupre Kwagyan, the Kubease chief was forcefully taken from his house by some six (6) persons to an unknown location. The swift intervention of the police following a report of the incident led to the rescue of the victim at Abene.
Meanwhile, the Grandson to the Kubeasehene, Osafo Agyei Benard who attempted to rescue his grandfather from the thugs but was stabbed multiple times has also pleaded with the security agencies for protection since the family now lives in fear of the unknown future.
On the other side, Opanin Kwadwo Agyeman, a brother to the embattled Kubeasehene has said some persons in the Kwahu Abene palace are going around soliciting funds in the name of the royal family towards the performance of the final funeral rites of the late Okwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng. According to him, such an act is disgraceful to the Etena Royal Family hence, their decision to place a court injunction on the said funeral, and further called on the government through the IGP to intervene immediately to bring all those who perpetrated the assault and kidnap on his brother to book.
