Security Analyst Dr. Adam Bonaa has raised concerns that COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah (Mrs), the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), may be involved in spreading false information regarding the removal of Inspector General of Police, COP Akuffo Dampare.
An article by dailyguidenetwork.com on June 30, 2024, claimed that Dr. George Akufo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, had been instructed to take leave and hand over his responsibilities to his deputy, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
The alleged decision to place the IGP on leave is believed to be connected to the 2023 leaked tape scandal, which was investigated by a parliamentary committee led by Abuakwa South MP, Samuel Atta Akyea.
However, the Ghana Police Service has refuted these claims. In a press release issued on June 30th and signed by Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the public was urged to disregard the reports.
The statement emphasized that Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, remains dedicated to his role of leading the Ghana Police Service, in accordance with the mandate given to him by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
In response to the issues discussed in an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Mr. Bona made allegations against the EOCO boss, COP Mama Tiwaa.
