The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has announced a nationwide strike, set to take effect on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
The strike is in protest against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
In an official statement, CLOGSAG explained that the decision was made following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on February 11, 2025.
During the meeting, concerns were raised regarding the appointment of politically exposed individuals to positions within the Civil Service and local government structures.
The NEC resolved that if Mr. Botchway assumed office, the association would take industrial action.
Following his official assumption of duty on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, CLOGSAG has declared that it has no alternative but to proceed with the nationwide strike.
The association has therefore instructed all its members to stay at home from the start of the strike until further notice.
