Former Afigya Kwabere South Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, also known as Chairman Coka, has issued a call for peaceful elections in Ghana’s upcoming December 7 polls.
Addressing attendees at the Afigya Kwabere South Constituency Fasting and Prayers event at the Kodie Methodist Church on Friday, November 29, 2024, Chairman Coka stressed the significance of upholding the electoral process and the laws of the nation.
“We are not here to engage in conflict or hurl insults at one another. Instead, we must exercise our right to vote responsibly,” Chairman Coka stated.
He further reminded those present that the electoral commission officers are individuals who are part of their community, including being relatives, friends, husbands, and wives, and therefore should be treated with respect.
‘Let’s give the needed respect to the regulations of the electoral commission officers at the various polling stations. They are our relatives, friends, husbands and wives so lets respect them.”
Chairman Coka’s plea for peace comes at a pivotal moment in Ghana’s electoral history, as the nation gears up for its 5th presidential succession since the reintroduction of democratic multiparty politics in 1992.
The upcoming elections are anticipated to be fiercely contested, with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) going head-to-head against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
