The former Minister for Railways Development, John Peter Amewu, has reportedly been arrested by National Security in connection with the failed $2 million Sky Train project.
Amewu, who previously served as the Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency, is under investigation over his role in the controversial deal, which aimed to introduce a modern urban rail transport system in Ghana but never materialized.
The Akufo-Addo administration is said to have committed $2 million to the project, which has since been deemed unsuccessful. As a key figure overseeing the railway sector at the time, Amewu is now facing scrutiny regarding the financial commitments made under the agreement.
This development has heightened concerns about transparency and accountability in government contracts and public infrastructure projects.
National Security officials have yet to release further details on the charges or potential legal actions against Amewu.
