The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency in the Ashanti region, Mr. Emmanuel Agyei Anwhere, has stated that some angry constituents who had previously chased and taunted him have now returned to praise him.
Several weeks ago, a video went viral showing the MP being escorted away by the police after being threatened by a mob armed with machetes during a visit to his constituency. The mob, which had gathered in Kobeng, Seidi, and Amanchia, forced the MP to flee the scene following the recovery of the body of a 57-year-old man named John Kwame Asumang, who had drowned due to poor road conditions.
In an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show on Monday, the MP for Atwima Nwabiagya South revealed that he had visited the communities in the aftermath of the incident, and to his surprise, the constituents celebrated him.
“After my constituents booed me, I went back to the community and they glorified me,” Mr Emmanuel Agyei Anwhere stated.
He disclosed that a lot of the bad roads in his constituency have been awarded to contract and hopefully, all would be completed before 2024.
Speaking about his chances to retain his seat, Mr Emmanuel Agyei Anwhere disclosed that, he is very optimistic that the NPP delegates would grant him another term.
“Delegates in Atwima Nwabiagya South are wise, they will maintain me,” the Atwima Nwabiagya South lawmaker expressed.
