During a recent campaign rally in Breku in the Assin North constituency of Central Region, former President John Dramani Mahama, who is the presidential candidate for the NDC, assured the people that the NPP allegations against James Gyakye Quayson were nothing more than a strategic campaign.
He went on to say that if they vote for Quayson the NPP can never jail him.
The NPP folks in their campaign at the Assin North ahead of a by-election have consistently criticised the NDC candidate, Gyakye Quayson, telling electorates in the constituency that he will be imprisoned in the near future.
But Mahama during a campaign for Gyakye Quayson also took the opportunity to criticize the NPP, calling them professional liars who should not be taken seriously.
He revealed that some members of the NPP had threatened to jail his younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama, on false charges of theft but have not been able to imprison him.
According to the ex-president, the NPP’s claims are mere lies and that the same tactics are being used against Gyakye Quayson.
For this reason, the people should consider those assertions and false allegations which don’t hold water.
He said, there is no way, Gyakye Quayson would be imprisoned so far as the NDC is concerned.
