The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has charged pastors, leaders, and members of the church to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 10th Triennial World Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, to be hosted in Ghana.

Rev. Wengam made the call on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the Cedar Mountain Chapel in Accra, where he officially launched the World Congress at the local church level.

The launch at Cedar Mountain marks the beginning of a nationwide grassroots mobilisation campaign that will take the message of the congress to all Assemblies of God congregations across Ghana.

The global congress, scheduled for October 14 to 16, 2026, is expected to bring together about 10,000 pastors, ministers, and church leaders from Assemblies of God churches around the world.

It is historic, as Ghana will be hosting the congress for the first time in the 110-year history of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. Main activities have been scheduled for two iconic venues – the Black Star (Independence) Square and the Accra Sports Stadium.

Rev. Wengam announced that participation in the daytime sessions at the Independence Square will attract a minimal fee of GH¢100, while the evening revival rallies at the Accra Sports Stadium will be free of charge.

He, however, stressed that the spiritual impact of the congress cannot be measured in monetary terms. “We cannot simply quantify the value of the spiritual exercise at the stadium. It is inestimable, to say the least,” he stated.

Theme and Background

Recounting the journey so far, Rev. Wengam recalled that on November 14, 2025, the Global Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, Rev. Dominic Yeo, officially launched the 10th Triennial Congress at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra.

This year’s congress is being held under the theme: “Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation,” anchored on Matthew 28:18-20.

According to Rev. Wengam, daytime activities at the Independence Square will feature seminars, workshops, and strategic working sessions, while the Accra Sports Stadium will host massive evening revival rallies.

He urged members of Assemblies of God, Ghana to fill the Accra Sports Stadium to capacity during the revival rallies, describing it as a show of appreciation for the rare honour bestowed on Ghana.

“We as members of this great church in Ghana have a rare responsibility imposed by heaven to fill every available space at the Accra Sports Stadium,” he charged.

A Call to Project Ghana

The General Superintendent further urged every pastor, deacon, deaconess, church leader and member to use the congress as an opportunity to positively project Assemblies of God, Ghana to the global community.

He said Ghana’s selection as host is a demonstration of God’s grace and a great honour to the church in Ghana, noting that the congress is not only intended to glorify God but also to revitalise and strengthen the Assemblies of God worldwide.

Rev. Wengam added that Ghana will be under the international spotlight during the congress and therefore the church must showcase its best to delegates and visitors from around the world.

He explained that beyond the benefits of tourism, business, investment and global visibility, the congress remains a critical spiritual platform for advancing the mission of the church.

The event, he said, will provide an opportunity to strategise towards achieving the MM33 Vision – the ambitious goal of planting one million churches by 2033, as part of efforts to commemorate 2,000 years since the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He stressed that the vision cannot be achieved by leadership alone but will require renewed commitment and collaboration between leadership and the entire membership.

He also noted that the Assemblies of God Ghana Transformational Agenda is already focused on planting more churches, building legacy temples and evangelising the nation, urging members to move the initiative “to the highest spiritual gear.”

My Jerusalem

In a deeply personal moment, Rev. Wengam, who is also the Head Pastor of Cedar Mountain Chapel, expressed profound appreciation to members of the church for their support throughout his pastoral and leadership journey. He described Cedar Mountain Chapel as his “Jerusalem” and expressed confidence that the church would continue to grow and attain greater spiritual heights.

He called for their continued prayers and support towards the success of the global congress.

He concluded by formally declaring the 10th Triennial Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship launched at the local level. “From today, pray Congress, dream Congress, think Congress, talk Congress and act Congress,” Rev. Wengam declared.
