Member of Parliament for the Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region, Patricia Appiagyei, has indicated that she has parted ways with her constituency chairman, Mr Ofosu Nkrumah.
According to the MP, Mr Nkrumah has betrayed her despite her contribution to his second term as chairman.
“I was highly influential in Nkrumah’s second term as chairman of the constituency. But I have written him off completely,” Mrs. Appiagyei stated in an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time.
She explained that the misunderstanding between her and the chairman was about an appointment in the constituency.
“The issue is about a certain appointment in the constituency, and he wants to do it unilaterally, but that is not what the constitution says; it’s the body that needs to do it. To me, I think he came with the intention of unseating me without any good reason. I think he has been bribed to do that because, no matter how supported this man is, he still does not change.”
Chairman Nkrumah has been criticizing his MP for not seeing any significant impact in the Asokwa constituency.
Responding to those criticisms, Mrs Appiagyei said:
“What significant impact is the chairman talking about? Is it what will go into his mouth and pocket? That is why he has not seen any impact. I have mentioned a lot of things that I have done, including those in the pipeline. I think it is about himself (Chairman Nkrumah), not the party; now it is obvious.” She told Kwesi-Parker Wilson, host of the show.
