Renowned American rapper and producer Ja Rule, accompanied by his wife and team, has recently touched down in Ghana. Their mission? To lay the foundation for a new classroom block at Nuaso Anglican Primary School in collaboration with Pencils of Promise.
Ja Rule had hinted at his upcoming visit to the West African nation in a tweet earlier this week. While the main purpose of their trip is to kick off the construction of the classroom block, the rapper and his entourage took the time to explore the historic Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Accra, Ghana.
Situated in Accra, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum serves as the final resting place of Ghana’s first President and Africanist. The park features a museum showcasing rare artifacts related to Ghana’s independence, offering visitors a comprehensive look into the Sub-Saharan struggle for freedom.
Designed by Don Arthur, the mausoleum houses the remains of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and his wife, Fathia Nkrumah. Its architecture, resembling an upside-down sword, holds significance in Akan culture as a symbol of peace.
Clad entirely in Italian marble, the mausoleum is topped with a black star symbolizing unity. Inside, visitors will find marble flooring and a mini mastaba-style marble grave marker surrounded by river-washed rocks, creating a serene and dignified atmosphere.
The park was redeveloped into a more befitting and attractive site in memory of the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah from 2021 to 2023. The redevelopment features:
– An expanded Museum
– A Presidential Library
– Refurbished Mausoleum
– A mini Amphitheater
– A restaurant
– A new audio-visual fountain
– A gift shop
– A new reception, amongst others.
