The Majority in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has asserted that the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, will be rejoining the party despite his recent resignation.
During a press conference held in Accra on Monday, September 25, 2023, Alan Kyerematen announced his decision to step down from the NPP and run as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
“The NPP as it exists now has very little resemblance to the party that I joined in 1992 and helped to nurture. The party has been hijacked by a select group of party leaders and elders, government appointees, behind-the-curtain power brokers, and some unscrupulous party apparatchiks.” Part of his statement said.
Reacting to Alan’s resignation on Oyerepa Breakfast time with Akua Asieduwaa, the Suame Lawmaker hinted that, the Movement for Change (MFC) leader will rejoin the NPP again.
According to Kyei Mensah, the former is only furious about certain matters and that if the NPP Council of Elders speak with him, he will rescind his decision.
“I hope and I still hope that Alan will change his mind and become an NPP member again because we have seen this before….”
He disputed that even if Alan doesn’t rescind his decision, it will not in any way affect the NPP in the impending 2024 polls.
