Sakina Oforiwaa, a Communication Team Member of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, has lambasted President Akufo-Addo over his reluctance to seek the opinions of Ghanaian chiefs whenever he wants to rename or change manes of Public universities.
Sakina believes that President Akufo-Addo has no respect for any chief in the country other than the Okyehene, Ofori Panin Fie, the reason he (Nana Addo) does things on his own without consultations.
Sakina’s comment is in relation to the Asogli Chiefs’ protest against the renaming of the Ho Technical University (HTU).
Speaking in a panel discussion on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Sakina Oforiwa argued that, if Nana Addo had respect, he would have sought the opinions of chiefs who reign over areas where these universities are located.
“Apart from Okyehene, Akuo-Addo doesn’t respect any chief in Ghana….Because he doesn’t consult chiefs and elders whenever he wants to change the names of public Universities.
An example is when Akufo-Addo was renaming the Tamale International Airport, Gbewa Palace raised concerns that they were not consulted to share their opinions.” She revealed.
Sakina howvere, said, it is very essential to consult and receive the opinions of Chiefs whenever he takes decisions to cause amendments on certain things.
“Before he renames those Universities, at least he should consult the chiefs who reign over where these universities are situated”, Sakina stated.
