Michael Okyere Baafi, Member of Parliament for New Juaben South and a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made a bold and controversial allegation against U.S.-based air ambulance service, AirMed International.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time with host Kwesi Parker-Wilson, the MP claimed that the company is widely known for its involvement in the global cocaine trade.
“Everybody in the world knows that Airmed planes always convey cocaine. It’s an open secret. Just Google and read more about them, and you’ll find out that Airmed Airlines deals secretly in cocaine,” Okyere Baafi asserted during the live interview.
His claims follow earlier allegations made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, who also raised suspicions about AirMed’s activities.
Rev. Fordjour questioned the nature of the company’s aircraft presence at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025, suggesting possible involvement in illicit drug trafficking and money laundering.
AirMed International has since denied any wrongdoing, stating that the aircraft’s landing in Ghana was a routine technical layover and not part of any covert or illegal operation. The company has maintained that it operates in full compliance with international aviation and medical transport regulations.
However, Okyere Baafi dismissed the company’s explanation, insisting that AirMed’s global reputation is tainted by clandestine drug operations.
