The Ministry of the Interior has officially declared Thursday, May 1, 2025, as a statutory public holiday in observance of May Day, also known as Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday, April 25, and signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak.
The Ministry called on the general public to observe the holiday in line with the country’s public holiday regulations.
“The general public is hereby informed that Thursday, 1st May 2025, which marks May Day (Workers’ Day), is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country,” the statement read.
May Day is celebrated annually to recognize the contributions and achievements of workers across the nation.
