Ministry of Education has refuted claims on a viral video claiming there is a shortage of food in some schools under the free SHS program, particularly in the Volta Region and are likely to be closed down.
The Ministry of Education spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng in an interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, disclosed that the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) has supplied all schools under the Free SHS program with the needed food items and that they have not had any reports from heads of the alleged affected schools reporting such issues to the Ministry.
Meanwhile, a statement released and signed by Mr Kwasi Kwarteng, Spokesman for the Ministry disclosed that per its checks, adequate supplies of food items have been made to the schools in question.
Mr Kwasi Kwarteng also assured that the government is committed and will make sure that all SHSs under the Free SHS Program in the country receive an adequate supply of food items.
