A tragedy has hit residents of Tafo Ahenbronum, a community in the Tafo-Pankrono Municipality of the Ashanti Region, when a six-year-old boy lost his life in a devastating incident.
The young KG2 pupil, known as Papa Atta, was playing in the rain when he slipped and fell into an open gutter.
The heavy, running water quickly swept him away, leaving residents in shock and despair.
Despite their best efforts, the boy’s body was found over 200 meters away from the accident scene.
He was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital, but Papa Atta was pronounced dead, leaving his family and the community devastated.
An eyewitness, Mama Linda, who narrated the sad incident, said,
“We were all home when it began to rain. Papa Atta, his twin sister, and other children had returned from school and were playing inside when it began to rain. We had no idea that the deceased had gone out to play in the rain with his colleagues, who were already outside.
“We later heard some people shouting about a child who had been dragged away by the water, only for us to learn that it was Papa Atta. Residents in the area searched frantically for him, only for us to discover his body over 200 meters away from our house, full of injuries. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors”, she said.
