Jack Alolome recounts alleged racist experience in the US
Ghanaian gospel musician Jack Alolome has alleged that a group of white passengers refused to board a flight in the United States after discovering that he was among the passengers.
In a video circulating on social media, the musician is seen sitting alone inside an aircraft as he recounts what he describes as a disturbing experience.
According to Alolome, the passengers reportedly presented the airline with two options: remove him from the flight or they would refuse to board.
He said he challenged the situation, identifying himself as a well-known Ghanaian musician and warning that he would take legal action if he was forcibly removed from the aircraft.
“A shocking thing just happened. When I was about to board this flight, because I was the only black person on it, the white people said that if I was going to be on board, they were not going to board the flight.
“They gave two options — either I was dropped or they would not board the flight. I told them, ‘I’m a popular musician from Ghana; I serve the president, so as I am talking to you right now. I come for a visit, and if you make a mistake and force me off the plane, I am going to sue you and use the money to buy a private jet, which I would use to travel back to Ghana’,” he said.
Alolome further suggested that his reference to President John Dramani Mahama played a role in the decision to allow him to remain on the aircraft.
“Because, I said know Mahama I was not dropped and the white people refused to board the plane,” he added.
The musician reiterated that the other passengers declined to board, leaving him apparently alone inside the aircraft.
“They said they would not board the plane and so look I’m the only person on the plane,” he said.
