Two arrested over murder of 11-year-old girl at Gomoa Buduburam
The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the alleged murder of an 11-year-old girl, Blessing Innocent, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects have been identified as Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and his 19-year-old apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe. Both men are neighbours of the deceased.
According to a police statement signed by the Central East Regional Head of Public Affairs, DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The case came to the attention of the police after the victim’s mother reported her daughter missing to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police on Monday, October 19, at about 12:40 p.m.
The mother told the police that Blessing had been missing since the previous Saturday, prompting investigations into her whereabouts.
Preliminary investigations established that the girl had visited Ozor and his apprentice at about 8:30 a.m. on the day she disappeared, making their residence the last known place she was seen.
The two suspects were arrested on Tuesday, October 20. During interrogation, they reportedly admitted that the girl had been with them on the day she went missing.
Police investigations further revealed that Otaigbe allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her before discovering that she was no longer alive.
Following his alleged confession, Otaigbe reportedly led investigators to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed beneath some shrubs.
The police retrieved the body and transported it to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital. Arrangements are being made for an autopsy at the Police Hospital to establish the cause of death.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The police have not announced the outcome of the autopsy, and the allegations against the suspects remain subject to the ongoing investigation and judicial process.
