I’m sorry – Wife begs husband for forgiveness after confessing two children are not his

A woman from Adumang in the Ashanti Region, Abena Ampomaa, has appealed to her husband, Shaibu Mohammed, popularly known as Chief, for forgiveness after revealing that two of the three children he has raised during their 14-year marriage are allegedly not biologically his.

Abena made the revelation when she appeared on Oyerepa Afutuo, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.

During the programme, she admitted having extramarital relationships with two men, which resulted in pregnancies while she was married to Chief.

According to her, one of the pregnancies occurred before their marriage, although she only discovered it after the wedding.

She explained that another pregnancy resulted from a relationship she entered into after experiencing marital misunderstandings and allegedly struggling to receive financial support from her husband.

“I came here this afternoon to beg my husband, Shaibu Mohammed, to forgive me my sins,” she said.

Abena said she had concealed the children’s paternity for years because she was afraid of her husband’s reaction. However, she eventually decided to confess after finding it increasingly difficult to keep the secret.

“I couldn’t keep it anymore, so despite my fear, I decided to tell him. When I finally confessed, he said he had heard me. He then asked why I hadn’t told him earlier, and I explained that I was afraid,” she recounted.

She disclosed that the two children whose paternity is in question are currently 14 and 11 years old.

Abena further alleged that following her confession, Chief threatened to stop providing for the children and prevent their biological fathers from offering any financial assistance.

According to her, her husband vowed that since he had spent about 12 years caring for the children, he would withdraw his support for an equivalent period, leaving her to shoulder the responsibility.

“My husband told me that he had taken care of the children for 12 years, so he would no longer provide for them for the next 12 years. He said I should also suffer by taking care of them myself,” she alleged.

She also claimed that Chief threatened to harm anyone who attempted to support her, including the men she identified as the children’s biological fathers.

The situation became more disturbing when Abena alleged that her husband had threatened her father, Mr Nyame, who reportedly died about two weeks before her appearance on the programme.

She said she believed the threats were connected to her father’s subsequent illness and death, although no independent evidence was presented during the programme to establish a link between the two events.

“He said he wouldn’t allow anybody to help me and if any of the men I have children with comes into my life, he will kill him. He also said he would make my father fall sick. My father subsequently fell sick and died about two weeks ago. I know I have wronged him and I am sorry,” she said.

Overwhelmed by the dispute, Abena made an emotional appeal to her husband, acknowledging her actions and asking him to forgive her.

“Please, let all spirits, heaven and earth bear witness that I have wronged you. Please forgive me,” she pleaded.

Chief was subsequently contacted by telephone during the programme, where he expressed anger over the revelation and accused his late father-in-law of helping conceal the children’s true paternity.

He alleged that Mr Nyame, who was an SDA church leader, knew that two of the children were not his biological offspring but deliberately failed to inform him.

Chief also claimed that his father-in-law had changed the name he had given to one of the children without his knowledge or consent.

He further accused Abena’s parents of secretly receiving money from the children’s biological fathers while their daughter continued to live with him as his wife.

Expressing his resentment over what he described as years of deception, Chief said he had invoked spiritual curses against his wife’s family and would not withdraw them until he received compensation for the money and resources he had spent raising the children.

He also threatened people who participated in his father-in-law’s burial, suggesting that they would face consequences similar to those he attributed to the deceased.

“Where I have taken this issue to is too far, and anybody who buries your father will be the next person. I am deeply hurt after taking care of all three children. I don’t even know whether the last one is biologically mine. If I tell you that I have no hand in your father’s death, then that is not true,” he declared.

Chief insisted that DNA tests must be conducted on all three children to determine their biological paternity before any attempt at reconciliation could be considered.

He said he would also calculate the total expenditure incurred in raising the children and demand compensation before agreeing to resolve the matter.

“I want DNA tests conducted on all three children. After that, I will calculate all the expenses I have incurred in raising them and demand compensation before agreeing to settle this issue,” he stated.

In a further threat, Chief warned Abena that members of her family could die one after another if his demands were not met, with her allegedly being the last person to die.

The dispute has raised serious concerns over the threats reportedly made during the programme, particularly those involving Abena and her family. The claims concerning the death of her father and the alleged threats remain allegations, and the account provided does not establish that Chief caused the death.
