NDC Greater Accra Deputy Youth Organizer Aspirant Rashid Isah Files Nomination, Vows to End Politics of Insults
Rashid Isah, an aspirant for the Greater Accra Regional Deputy Youth Organizer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has filed his nomination form, pledging to put an end to the culture of young people insulting others on social media in the name of politics.
Speaking to the media after filing his nomination at the NDC Regional Office in Accra, Mr. Isah said he believes in issue-based politics, not insults.
“Even in politics, it should be about issues. I do not believe in politics of insults. One thing we are going to do is set a leadership bar where you make your arguments based on issues,” he said.
He noted that there are young men many look up to today who never resorted to personal insults, and they are setting the right example.
“We have people who make arguments based on issues and not on insults. That is what we have come to project. Before I meet an opponent, I make sure I have what it takes to put out my arguments and stand tall,” he stated. He advised the youth to use social media responsibly, describing it as a powerful tool that can make or unmake a person.
“Social media is a very important tool that can make or unmake you. I would advise that when we go on that platform, we should make sure whatever information we are putting out is credible and that we can defend it when called upon. In politics, we can do all we want, but whatever you do today, remember that crime has no expiry date,” he cautioned.
He added that leadership and governance is a continuous process, and that the party’s forefathers have done a great job. As they exit, it is necessary for competent people to fill the vacant positions to ensure that the victory chalked in the 2024 elections is either maintained or improved.
Mr. Isah expressed confidence in securing victory and appealed to delegates to vote based on issues and commitment.
“Sometimes they say familiarity breeds contempt, so you might become too familiar and end up choosing incompetent people. We know what we have, we know what it takes, and we know what we have come to serve you with,” he said.
