Florence Seeks Divorce from Bishop Obinim Over Alleged Infidelity and Lack of Privacy – Lawyer
Lawyer Kusi Appiah, who represents Ghanaian gospel musician Florence Obinim, has outlined reasons his client is seeking to end her marriage to estranged husband Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God’s Way Church.
Speaking to media personality Ola Michael on Peace FM on October 13, 2026, the lawyer alleged that repeated infidelity by the preacher was among the key factors behind Florence’s decision to seek a divorce.
According to Kusi Appiah, Bishop Obinim allegedly cheated on his wife with several women on multiple occasions, with some of the women later ridiculing and insulting the gospel musician.
He said Florence had endured the situation for a long time but had now reached a point where she believed the circumstances were no longer bearable.
“He has cheated on her numerous times, and some of the women he cheated with even came to ridicule and insult her. She has tolerated this for a long time, but she now feels it has gone too far,” the lawyer said.
Kusi Appiah also cited what he described as a lack of privacy in the marriage, alleging that Bishop Obinim frequently discussed issues concerning their relationship in public.
He explained that marital disagreements were normal, but argued that taking private matters to the church auditorium for public discussion had become a source of concern for Florence.
According to the lawyer, his client had repeatedly asked her estranged husband to keep their marital issues private, but he allegedly failed to heed her concerns.
“On several occasions, Obinim has taken issues from their marriage to the church auditorium and discussed them publicly. Every marriage deserves some privacy, and she has complained to him several times, asking him to stop making their private matters public, but he never listens to her,” he said.
The lawyer disclosed that there was a third reason behind Florence’s decision to seek a divorce but declined to disclose the details, saying he was not prepared to make them public at this stage.
Meanwhile, Florence Obinim has reportedly initiated divorce proceedings against Bishop Daniel Obinim following their public separation after 24 years of marriage.
As part of the reported proceedings, she is seeking GH¢2 million in damages and several properties, including a mansion at Trassaco Valley in East Legon and another mansion in Barcelona, Spain.
Her reported demands also include a 21-unit block of shops in Tema, Abroso Guest House in Accra, and a multi-storey property said to contain residential apartments, guest-house facilities and church facilities.
She is also reportedly seeking two luxury vehicles and GH¢10,000 per week for her upkeep and personal expenses, alongside any additional properties the court may deem appropriate.
The allegations and reported financial claims form part of the ongoing marital dispute. The allegations of infidelity have not been independently established.
