Ghanaian actress and media personality Patricia Opoku-Agyemang, popularly known as Ahoufe Patricia, has challenged women to become more assertive in pursuing leadership and decision-making positions, particularly within Ghana’s creative sector.

The actress believes women already wield significant influence in society but have yet to fully translate that influence into positions of authority. She was speaking during an interview when asked whether women could dominate leadership across various sectors in the coming years.

“Women run the world. Nothing would exist without women. Men can’t live alone. We can survive on our own, but men can’t. I think we are still realizing it. Hopefully, we will be able to step into our power, own it, and realize that we can do what men can do, and even more and better,” Ahoufe Patricia stated.

She expressed confidence that Ghana’s institutions can accommodate more women in leadership, pointing to the increasing presence of women in influential positions within the judiciary and other public institutions.

For the actress, however, greater representation will require women themselves to be more determined to occupy spaces where important decisions are made.

She particularly wants to see more women take charge behind the scenes of Ghana’s entertainment industry, where she believes female professionals can make a greater impact as producers and directors.

“I just feel like it’s up to us to step up more. Hopefully, there will be more female producers and directors. We are ready, just that a lot more of us need to push instead of surrender,” she added.

Her comments come amid broader discussions about women’s representation in leadership and the need for greater female participation in Ghana’s creative and public sectors. Ahoufe Patricia believes the next step is for women to move beyond influence and actively claim decision-making roles.
