“Your words will destroy you in court!” — Vim Lady warns Obinim
Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, popularly known as Vim Lady, has cautioned controversial preacher Bishop Daniel Obinim over his ongoing public comments regarding his marriage to gospel singer Florence Obinim, warning that his statements could later create legal problems for him if the matter ends up in court.
The warning follows recent remarks made by Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of International God’s Way Church, during a church service where he openly declared that, in the event of his death, only his biological children and members of his church — known as the Abroso Family — should be responsible for his funeral and burial arrangements.
The outspoken preacher stated that neither his wife, Florence Obinim, nor his extended family should play any role in organising his burial. Although he later clarified that Florence could attend the funeral and sit as a widow, he maintained that she should remain excluded from decisions surrounding the burial arrangements.
Obinim explained that his decision was influenced by family disputes that followed the deaths of highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, and industrialist Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
His comments quickly sparked widespread reactions online, with many social media users speculating about possible tension or trouble within his marriage.
Reacting to the controversy in a TikTok video, Vim Lady advised the bishop to be more careful about what he says publicly, stressing that comments made online or in interviews can later be used as evidence in legal proceedings.
“Bishop Obinim and Florence Obinim’s case, I pray it doesn’t land in court. Because it can have serious repercussions for Obinim himself,” she warned.
The broadcaster went on to explain that issues surrounding marriage disputes often involve proving unreasonable behaviour, abandonment, or adultery in court, adding that several public statements already linked to the couple could potentially become relevant in any legal battle.
Vim Lady also referenced an earlier interview in which Obinim allegedly admitted that his wife contributed equally to their finances, suggesting that such remarks could strengthen any financial claims Florence Obinim may decide to make in the future.
“There was an interview where he himself admitted that his wife contributes 50-50. That can be used. The court can put a value on his properties. There are so many things he has said and we have seen in public that will require compensation and can make the court grant her,” she stated.
She further pointed to Florence Obinim’s years of support in both ministry and family life, including relocating to Spain with one of their children to support his football career, arguing that such sacrifices could also be recognised legally.
Using the situation as a broader lesson, Vim Lady advised Ghanaians to be mindful of their digital footprint and public utterances, warning that statements made in moments of emotion can later return with serious consequences.
“This is advice to everyone to be careful of their digital footprint and what they say in public,” she added.
The situation has continued to generate intense discussion across social media, with many followers debating the state of Bishop Obinim and Florence Obinim’s marriage, while others praised Vim Lady for drawing attention to the legal implications of public disputes in the digital age.
