The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has strongly denied reports suggesting that nearly 60 per cent of candidates in the ongoing military recruitment exercise were ruled medically unfit after allegedly testing positive for HIV.
In an official statement, the GAF described the claims circulating in sections of the media as completely untrue and urged the public to ignore them.
The Armed Forces explained that the medical examination phase of the current recruitment exercise is still in progress and has not yet been finalised. As such, no official medical results have been released, making the reports inaccurate and misleading.
According to the statement, the information being shared does not represent the reality of the recruitment process and should not be considered credible.
The GAF further indicated that efforts are underway to identify and hold accountable those responsible for originating and spreading the false information, describing it as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and damage the credibility of the recruitment exercise.
The military also advised journalists, bloggers, vloggers and other content creators to uphold professional standards by verifying information before publishing, especially on issues related to national security and public health.
Reaffirming its commitment to openness, the GAF assured the public that any official updates on the recruitment process would be released through the appropriate and authorised channels at the right time.
