A joint nighttime operation led by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), with support from National Security and the Ghana Police Service, has resulted in the arrest of 48 suspected cybercriminals at Dawhenya in the Ningo-Prampram Constituency.
The intelligence-driven raid targeted a suspected cybercrime hub, resulting in the apprehension of 46 men and two women.
Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament and Minister for Communications and Digitisation, Sam George, confirmed the arrests in a Facebook post.
Preliminary investigations suggest that most of the suspects are Nigerian nationals and are believed to be involved in a range of cyber-related offences. They are reportedly linked to online romance scams, fraudulent investment schemes, impersonation, and illegal online gold trading.
During the operation, security forces seized 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, a Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers, all believed to have been used in the commission of the alleged crimes.
Following the raid, Mr. George reiterated CSA’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s digital space through intelligence-led interventions. He emphasised that while Ghana welcomes individuals engaged in lawful business, cybercriminal activities will not be tolerated.
The Minister also praised the professionalism of the security personnel involved, noting that their conduct reflects the high standards for which Ghana’s security services are internationally recognised.
Investigations into the suspects’ activities are ongoing, with authorities expected to provide further updates as they work to dismantle organised cybercrime networks operating within the country.
