Former Fomena Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr Akwasi Nti has vowed to quit active politics and his party if NPP delegates retain Bernard Antwi Boasiako known popularly as Chairman Wontumi as Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
Mr Akwasi Nti who was a Public Relation Officer, PRO for Chairman Wontumi prior to his election has waged a relentless war against the ‘Ashanti Governor’ criticizing him for making the party unpopular in the Region.
Speaking on Kumasi-based radio station, Tuesday, Mr Akwasi Nti emphatically stated, “I will resign from NPP and active politics if delegates vote for Chairman Wontumi to lead the party as Ashanti Regional Chairman”.
According to Mr Akwasi Nti, people in Ashanti Region are gradually losing interest in NPP especially party members because of Chairman Wontumi’s bad attitude.
“Because of Chairman Wontumi’s greedy attitude, party supporters are unwilling to sacrifice for the party like how it used to be. They have lost interest” he stressed.
“I’m not campaigning for anyone to lead the party as Regional Chairman but Chairman Wontumi doesn’t deserve to lead the party again and that’s a fact.” He declared.
He explained further that “Ashanti Region and NPP needs Chairman who is not selfish and greedy like Wontumi but we need someone who can bring unity, someone who is not selfish like Wontumi.”
Akwasi Nti however has called on the rank and file of the party to be vigilant and rise against any self-seeking executive like Wontumi and poodles.
