Frank Afriyie, Member of Parliament for Afadzato South in the Volta Region, has assured his constituents of his commitment to investing in human capital through education to improve their living standards.
Speaking at the outdooring and induction ceremony of new executives of the Tafi Agbome Youth Association (TAYA) in Accra, he emphasised that education is the key to transforming and bridging the poverty gap between the rich and the poor. He attributed his position as Member of Parliament for Afadzato South to education.
Mr. Afriyie revealed that he has established a scheme to support top-performing students from the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, to meet their basic needs and enable them to climb the educational ladder.
He expressed confidence that with support from GETFund, his MP’s Common Fund, and backing from traditional leaders, the human resource potential of the area will be harnessed effectively. He noted that their efforts make his work as MP easier and urged other communities to emulate TAYA’s contributions towards improving lives in their areas.
Robert Atsu Mensah, Patron of Tafi Agome Youth Association, stated that the association’s primary objective is to offer assistance to their people back home.
He called on sons and daughters of Tafi Agbome, both at home and abroad, to join the development initiative by becoming TAYA members and championing the cause.
Geoffery Akortia, the new Chairman of TAYA, urged parents to prioritise their children’s education over material gains, stressing that they are the future leaders of Tafi Agome and Ghana.
He assured that under his leadership, TAYA will complete ongoing developmental projects initiated by the previous administration, covering areas such as education, health, electricity, and water.
