The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced the postponement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
In an official notice issued on Monday, October 6, 2025, the Speaker stated that the parliamentary meeting—initially scheduled to resume on October 14, 2025, following an earlier notice on September 29—has been deferred until further notice due to “circumstances beyond my control.”
The statement, released from the Office of the Speaker in Accra, did not provide details on the reasons for the delay but assured that a new date would be communicated in due course.
“Pursuant to the notice to summon Parliament dated September 29, 2025, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,” the Speaker announced.
The postponement means that parliamentary proceedings, which were expected to resume this month after recess, will remain on hold until a new sitting date is set.
The delay comes at a critical time, as the House was expected to deliberate on several key issues, including the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, as well as other pending legislative and policy matters.
