The Chief Executive Officer of Start in Ghana Investment Limited, Yahaya Alhassan, has appealed to Ghanaian youth who are advocating for the deportation of foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians, to reconsider the potential consequences.
To him, as a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Ghana must adhere to ECOWAS policies regarding foreign nationals.
Alhassan believes that calls for deportation could strain the long-standing international ties between Ghana and Nigeria. He notes that while some Nigerians may exhibit undesirable behaviour, Ghanaians also have individuals who don’t set good examples.
Alhassan emphasises that Ghana and Nigeria share a relationship that extends beyond being neighbouring countries, likening it to a brotherly and sisterly bond. He urges caution when handling international issues.
Alhassan mentions that his organisation has established a toll-free centre where people can report criminal activities, which will be forwarded to the government for action in accordance with the constitution.
