Traditional leaders (Nananom) of Awutu Bereku in the Awutu Senya West District have expressed strong disappointment in the current NDC government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, for abandoning the Agenda 111 hospital project in the district, which they say is already about 60% complete.
The Nimfahene of Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Pobi Abundam VII, lamented the government’s neglect of the project, stressing that its completion would save countless lives in the district.
He noted that many residents, particularly pregnant women, are often forced to travel long distances to Winneba and Kasoa for medical care, a situation he described as dangerous and avoidable.
Nai Pobi Abundam VII therefore appealed to the government to immediately return contractors to the site to ensure the timely completion of the hospital project.
Beyond health care, the chief also called for more developmental projects in Awutu, particularly the construction of additional educational facilities to enhance learning in the district.
The Nimfahene made the remarks during the opening day of the Awutu Awubia Festival, after performing traditional rites to officially usher in the celebration.
Meanwhile, some traditional leaders who also spoke to Nana Ansah appealed to the youth and festivalgoers to conduct themselves responsibly throughout this year’s festivities.
