After several years of legal battles and traditional disputes that stalled the development of Moree in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District of the Central Region, Nana Adzikese XI has officially been gazetted by the Central Regional House of Chiefs as the legitimate Odikro of Moree.
The gazette, which marks the final legal recognition of his status, affirms Nana Adzikese XI’s authority to serve as the traditional ruler of the people of Moree under the Abura Asebu Traditional Council.
The announcement sparked widespread jubilation across the town, with traditional rituals, drumming, and dancing held in his honour.
The prolonged chieftaincy dispute had negatively affected the socio-economic growth of Moree, with community development projects stalling due to the lack of unified leadership.
In his first address to the community following the gazetting, Nana Adzikese XI called for peace and reconciliation among all factions.
He assured the people of a God-fearing and development-oriented leadership, urging unity and cooperation.
“I will rule a godly rule. Let us come together as one people. I urge everyone to desist from using curses or negative utterances. This is the time to build, not destroy,” he said.
Nana Adzikese XI also appealed to residents and stakeholders, both at home and abroad, to support efforts aimed at reviving the town’s economy and social infrastructure, including education, sanitation, and youth empowerment.
Some sub-chiefs and residents who spoke to the media expressed their heartfelt gratitude and excitement over the final gazetting of their new chief. They described it as a major step toward restoring peace, unity, and development in the community.
“We are very happy today. It’s been years of tension, and we thank the gods and the Regional House of Chiefs for finally settling the matter. Nana Adzikese XI is our rightful chief, and we are ready to support him,” a resident stated.
