The Ministry of Health has announced the disbursement of GH₵462 million to cover six months of allowances for 120,000 nursing trainees across the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 17, 2025, the Ministry confirmed that payments began that day and will continue through Friday, July 25, as part of a wider government initiative aimed at supporting nursing and midwifery students.
“This payment, which covers six months, forms part of a broader initiative by the government to provide financial support to students in nursing training colleges,” the statement said.
Describing the move as a significant milestone, the Ministry said the funds will go a long way in boosting the welfare and morale of trainee nurses, who play a critical role in the future of Ghana’s healthcare system.
The statement, signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson Tony Goodman, expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and all relevant stakeholders for ensuring the timely release and distribution of the funds.
The Ministry also reiterated its commitment to working closely with nursing institutions to promote high standards in healthcare education and training nationwide.
