The families of the nine pupils who died as a result of drowning in Saboba are appealing to the government of Ghana not to be harsh on the headmaster of St. Charles Lwanga R/C J.H.S.
According to the families, the headmaster is a good person and did not intend to kill the kids.
“We are appealing that the Headmaster should not be punished severely because he did not deliberately commit the crime, he has been good to us.” Mr. Jesse Ngulbi Nyinmakan, a representative of the bereaved families said.
They made the passionate appeal when the deputy education minister led a government delegation to commiserate with the bereaved families.
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, (GES) Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, and Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Deputy of Education Minister has led a delegation to Saboba to commiserate with the families of the nine pupils who drowned in a river on Friday, November 12, 2021.
The headmaster of St Charles Lwanga R/C Junior High School, Jashain Emmanuel, who sent some 31 pupils to his farm last Friday, has since been interdicted by the Ghana Education Service for breaching its code of conduct.
He (Headmaster) has been remanded by the Tamale magistrate court.
