The Appointments Committee of Parliament has officially begun public hearings to vet nominees for ministerial and regional ministerial positions, as nominated by President John Dramani Mahama.
This vetting process, in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, is a crucial step in evaluating and approving key government appointments.
The hearings have generated significant public interest, with many individuals attending Parliament to observe the vetting sessions firsthand.
In response, Parliament has implemented measures to ensure the safety and security of Members of Parliament, staff, and the public.
To manage the large turnout and maintain order, access to the venue has been restricted. Only individuals with invitation cards or proper accreditation will be allowed entry into the Committee room and Parliament premises.
For those unable to attend in person, Parliament has collaborated with various media outlets to broadcast the proceedings live.
The public is encouraged to follow the vetting process remotely, promoting transparency and widespread participation.
This approach seeks to strike a balance between public engagement and security concerns, demonstrating Parliament’s dedication to a transparent yet organized review of ministerial nominees.
