Former Member of Parliament for the Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has attributed the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 elections to internal disarray and inefficiencies.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the former MP stated that the party’s inability to address critical issues and maintain cohesion led to its electoral defeat.
“The NPP was in a state of paralysis,” he said, emphasizing that the party’s failure to act decisively on pressing matters significantly weakened its position.
According to him, internal conflicts, lack of clear direction, and an inability to connect effectively with the electorate were key factors that caused the party to lose the trust and support of Ghanaians.
Boakye Antwi lamented that the Akufo-Addo leadership failed to manage internal disputes and ignored the voices of grassroots supporters who play a vital role in mobilizing votes. “We became too disconnected from the people on the ground,” he added, highlighting how the party’s complacency and focus on internal power struggles alienated its support base.
The former Subin MP also criticized the party’s approach to governance, suggesting that it failed to effectively communicate its achievements and policies to the public.
Boakye Antwi urged the NPP to undertake a thorough introspection and rebuild its structures if it hopes to regain power in the future. He called for a united front just like the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under President Mahama is exhibiting to effectively challenge them in subsequent elections.
