A leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP], Dr Richard Amoako Baah has told the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Mr Antwi Bosiako alias Chairman Wontumi to back off and allow other candidates to lead the party.
The former KNUST Lecturer’s comment is in relation to Wontumi’s statement on Neat FM last week that he is the ‘Messi’ of the NPP in Ashanti, and that the party will lose the 2024 elections should he be voted out.
Reacting to the statement on Otec FM, monitored by Oyerepa online, Dr Amoako Baah on the contrary said, Wontumi’s statement was a mere campaign talk which should not be considered by delegates in the impending NPP regional executives elections in April 2022.
According to him, Wontumi has done his part and it is time to stay away and relinquish power to others to lead the party in the Ashanti Region.
“Wontumi did a great job when we were in position. However, his performance as a regional chairman as of now is very poor. I think he has done his part, so it is time to back off and allow others to lead the party.”
The NPP leading member admitted that “vote-buying is the order of the day” subsequently, delegates should change the trend in the impending polls. They should vote against Wontumi and consider any candidate who has good human relations and can perform very well.
