The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reassured Ghanaians of a peaceful and secure electoral process for the upcoming December 7 elections.
Speaking at a stakeholder engagement, Dr. Dampare highlighted the extensive measures undertaken by security agencies to maintain law and order.
A 5,000-page blueprint has been developed to guide all security agencies and stakeholders, outlining strategies for fairness, transparency, and order during the electoral process. This blueprint has already been successfully implemented in previous by-elections and internal political party elections.
Dr. Dampare warned individuals or groups planning to disrupt the elections, “We will not allow anybody, be it an individual or a group, to disturb the peace of this country. We will come for you, and you will know that we are ready to come for you.”
The National Security Task Force is working with the Electoral Commission to establish standardized collation centers, preventing insecurity during the collation of election results.
Rev. Fr. Michael K. A. Quaicoe, Director for Governance, Justice, and Peace at the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, commended the National Security Task Force’s thorough preparations.
He urged Ghanaians to trust the security agencies, remain calm, and support efforts to uphold peace and order throughout the electoral process.
With these measures in place, Ghanaians can look forward to a peaceful and transparent electoral process.
