A lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Dennis Owusu Sarkodie has chastised the Akuffo-Addo government over the appointment of Kusi Boafo’s appointment.
Kusi Boafo was appointed by President Akuffo-Addo as the Chief Executive Officer of Public Sector Reforms in the NPP’s first term of office.
Many people were expecting tremendous performance from the CEO based on his in-depth knowledge in governance on various radio and TV discussions in 2016.
However, many Ghanaians including the KNUST lecturer, Mr. Dennis Owusu Sarkodie believes Kusi Boafo’s appointment as CEO of Public Sector Reforms has yielded no results.
According to him, the current state of the public sector needs serious reforms.
His comment is in relation to the statement by the Finance Minister, Ken Offori Atta that the government payroll is full.
The Finance Minister speaking at a graduation ceremony at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), said “payroll is full because we are spending some 60% of our revenue on remunerating some 650,000 people. That is not sustainable.”
“…You have the skills set to be able to do what you have to do. Our responsibility as a government is to create the environment and the macro stability, currency stability and ensure that you have access to the relevant skills and financing.” Ken Ofori-Attah told the graduating students.
Mr. Sarkodie stated on Oyerepa breakfast time, Tuesday that, the country is heading into a ditch if proper structures are not put in place.
“President Akufo-Addo appointed Mr. Thomas Kusi Boafo as Chief Executive officer of Public Sector Reforms, what results has that appointment yielded ..nothing”. The lecture lamented.
