The Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa North Constituency of the Upper East Region, Mr. James Agalga, has handed over a fully renovated three-unit Kindergarten block and an office complex to the staff and pupils of Wiaga Chiok community.
School children at Chiok community and its environs can now sit in a well-furnished classroom for effective teaching and learning after the MP for the area handed over the well-furnished facility with offices to the staff and pupils of the school on Monday, 3rd May 2024.
The renovation of the Atidiok School block, which cost the MP GH¢120,000 through his share of the common fund, formed part of the MP’s efforts to promote quality education in the area.
There is also a room attached to the school block for the community nurse to sit and weigh children in the community.
The school block before the renovation was in a deplorable state which affected teaching and learning in the community. However, the MP responded to the community members’ plea this year and renovated the school block to improve quality education delivery in the area.
Addressing the community members at a short ceremony to commission the school, Mr. Agalga explained that the completion of the school is in fulfillment of a pledge he made when he visited the community last year.
“I took it upon myself to make it one of my priority projects that will bring education to the doorstep of the people in my constituency, and for that matter, I gave it out to the contractor for renovation,” he added.
He said the provision of educational infrastructure is part of his determination to uplift the standard of education in the Builsa North Municipality.
Mr. Agalga also mentioned that education is key to every development; hence he has decided to make education a priority as an MP for the betterment of every child in the constituency.
He has therefore appealed to both teachers, community members, and the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) to pay good attention to the facility and ensure it is put to good use, “because that is crucial to give the facility a long life,” he said.
The community members, staff, and pupils of the school have expressed their gratitude to the MP for the gesture and also appealed for more of such interventions.
