Member of Parliament for Old Tafo constituency, Lawyer Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has confidently declared his support for Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka Napo as the Running Mate to Dr Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 Elections.
Since being elected as the new flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) several months ago, Vice President of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has yet to announce his running mate, despite a few names circulating in the media.
Ekow Vincent Assafuah firmly believes that Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh is the ideal candidate to partner with the new NPP flagbearer to secure maximum votes in the Ashanti region for the 2024 elections.
During an interview on Oyerepa FM with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the Member of Parliament (MP) expressed his opinion that the Energy Minister should be selected as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
“Dr Bawumia will surely name someone who best fits the position of the running mate” he stated.
He argued that the individual with a strong track record and the ability to assist the flagbearer should be considered, highlighting their numerous achievements at both the Education and Energy Ministries.
“Dr Bawumia needs someone who is an achiever, a result-oriented person and someone who can help him in his campaigns and even after winning the elections”
The Tafo MP reiterated that the only person who fits the running mate position is no other person than Dr Mattthew Opoku Prempeh.
“You can hate him and you can like him but trust me that’s your opinion if we want someone who can partner Dr Bawumia well and win more votes in the Ashanti Region it’s no other person than Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh” he boldly declared.
Dr. Bawumia is yet to announce his running mate for the December polls with several predictions suggesting names like Dr Mattew Opoku Prempeh, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Joseph Osei Owusu among others who are likely to be considered as the running mate for the 2024 elections.
