Actor and skit maker, Mmebusem, known as ‘Ghana Jesus,’ has revealed the reason behind his decision to stop releasing videos portraying himself as Christ and entertaining the public.
Mmebusem explained that his parents were not supportive of his viral social media videos and were pressuring him to find other ways to support himself.
He mentioned that his parents were concerned about the criticism he received for his skit videos, which they felt were disrespectful to Jesus Christ.
In an interview with One Ghana TV, Mmebusem shared that he decided to stop making skit videos due to the pressure and advice from his parents.
“My parents were complaining that I was not making a good name for myself with the videos, so I should stop and look for better things to do for a living. When your parents don’t understand your reasons for doing something, you have to stop it for a while and pray about it. So that one and other issues made me stop doing it for a while,” he explained.
He disclosed that he felt called by God to persist in creating the videos as they were an integral part of his ministry.
Mmebusem gained widespread recognition in the country when he began producing videos in which he portrayed Jesus in comedic sketches.
Despite his popularity, he faced criticism from some online users who accused him of disrespecting Jesus through his performances.
