The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Koduah Frimpong, has disclosed that parliamentary primaries in Asante Mampong will not come on as scheduled for tomorrow.
This comes after some dissatisfied members of the party obtained a separate injunction after a High Court ruling obtained a separate injunction that aims to prevent polling station executives from participating in the NPP’s parliamentary primaries in Asante Mampong.
Speaking exclusively on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel, Justin Kodua explained that the national executives of the party will have to take time to address these issues concerning the Asante Mampong constituency, which will have to be cancelled.
“For now, parliamentary elections at Asante Mampong will not come on as scheduled tomorrow since there is an injunction and the party has taken notice of it,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the party has confirmed the suspension and is awaiting the court’s decision on the injunction, as the NEC has also decided the way forward.
“The national executives of the party will have to meet and discuss the way forward, but for now, what I can say is that Asante Mampong will not participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections tomorrow as scheduled,” he added.
However, the parliamentary elections, as of now, remain suspended until further notice.
