The parliamentary candidate for the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Collins Owusu Amankwah, is confident in securing a significant percentage of votes for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2024 polls if delegates choose him in the party’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday.

Collins Owusu Amankwah, the former Member of Parliament for the Manhyia Constituency, was defeated in the 2020 NPP primaries by the incumbent, Akwasi Konadu.

However, the former legislator believes that Akwasi Konadu’s performance is lacklustre, which is why he has decided to run for the parliamentary seat again.

During a press conference held today before the primaries, Collins emphasized that the incumbent MP’s poor performance has led to an excessive appreciation of votes for the NPP’s main opponent, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, he will not passively observe the NDC’s votes continuously rising in the Manhyia North constituency. He is determined to make every effort to secure 80% of the votes for both NPP flagbearer, Dr Bawumia and himself in the 2024 elections, provided that he is chosen as the Member of Parliament by the delegates.

“…If you look at our performances in terms of votes I was able to garner almost 70% of popular votes in the 2016 general elections and as I speak it has dropped from 76% to 71% under the current MP (Akwasi Konadu). NDC is doing well under his watch.

“I think we need to rescue this dropping in terms of votes to prosecute a very effective campaign to be able to hit our target of 80% votes for Bawumia and my good self as parliamentary candidate for Manhyia North in 2024 general elections.” He stated.

He revealed that considering his past achievements in the Manhyia North constituency, a significant number of delegates and constituents are eagerly anticipating his return.

Consequently, he remains confident in his ability to secure victory in the upcoming parliamentary primaries on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

“Manhyia North Delegates are craving for my comeback.
All is set, I’ve gone round, I’ve engaged delegates, my message has gone down well with the delegates and I can assure you that victory would be mine.” The former MP confidently expressed.
