The Majority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, has urged Christians in the country to utilize the power of prayer to combat terrorist attacks.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, held at the Light House Central Assembly in Akwatialine, Kumasi, the Member of Parliament for Suame revealed that terrorists are gradually gaining control over the African continent, with Burkina Faso, Gabon, Niger, and Mali serving as prime examples.
Mr. Bonsu emphasized that there is a high likelihood of La Côte d’Ivoire becoming the next target, and if this were to occur, Ghana could potentially face an attack as well.
“Fellow Christians, there’s indeed an inciting growth that apart from the economic crunch that we have in Ghana, if you know the events that are playing out in Burkina Faso. Today about 70% of Burkina Faso is lost to terrorists, and 90% of Mali is lost to terrorists…. Niger, Chad and just three days ago Gabon. The country on the radar is La Côte d’Ivoire and if it should happen to Lacote D’Ivore, God save Ghana.”
He called upon the congregation and the entire nation to engage in fervent and unwavering prayers to protect the nation from such threats.
“That’s why we must be very prayerful.” He declared.
He however tasked AG’s church members to conform to the teachings of the church and not exhibit awkward criticisms that would destroy the Church’s good reputation.
“If the newly inducted pastor goes an errand way, we must criticise to inform, we don’t criticise to bring down the Assemblies of God.” He added.
