Mr Kwabena Samuel Pyne, CEO of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) is keen on contesting for the Suame Constituency’s Member of Parliament (MP) seat in the 2024 NPP parliamentary primaries.
The incumbent Suame MP, Mr Kyei Mensah Bonsu earlier on January 3, 2023, indicated that he will not contest for the post in the 2024 polls after reigning for 28 years.
“I’ve said it clearly that, per my age, I will end it here and show my gratitude.
“People at the regional and national levels are piling pressure on me to contest even till this very minute but I have spoken and made my stance clear,” he stated on Wontumi TV.
When Sampyne was asked on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Friday 31st March 2023, if he will contest for the Suame seat in the 2024 NPP primaries, Sam Pyne said;
“Of course, I’ll contest for the seat. If Kyei Mensah won’t contest in 2024 then I’ll contest Suame. I’m from Suame (constituency), I started everything at Suame. In 1992, I was voted as the secretary. I became a polling station chairman for 12 years before becoming the {NPP Ashanti} regional secretary. So when nominations are opened, God willing I’ll pick a form.” He disclosed.
