A political analyst, Boakye Yiadom has chastised the immediate past General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over his judgment to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship position previously held by Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
Boakye Yiadom believes that under no circumstance should Asiedu Nketia have made up his mind to compete Ofosu-Ampofo.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Monday, on the subject of many NDC executives maintaining their positions in the ongoing elections, the political analyst stated categorically that, Ofosu Ampofo will also retain his seat because Asiedu Nketiah’s decision to vie for the chairmanship slot was a poor one.
According to him, the popular NDC secretary, General Mosquito should have contested for his position again and not rocked shoulders with Ofosu Ampofo.
“We told Asiedu Nketiah not to contest Ofosu Ampofo because we realized it’s unnecessary to match him.
I do believe that Ofosu Ampofo will retain the seat because the party delegates know well that he worked 4 years ago which helped the NDC to get half of the parliamentary seats and the speaker of parliament…
Asiedu Nketiah’s decision to compete Ofosu-Ampofo was a poor judgment on his side. Even though we’re practising democracy, he has every right to contest whichever position he wants, but we believe that he shouldn’t have contested Ofosu Ampofo. He should have held unto his general secretary position.”
Boakye Yiadom counted that Asiedu Nketiah is aged and could have decided to be part of the NDC Council of Elders to advise the young ones in the party.
“He is even grown up so I think he should have considered being part of the party’s council of elders to advise the young boys.”
The NDC is set to hold its National Executives Elections on Saturday, 17th December 2022 and all contestants are keen on winning their respective positions.
