A lecturer at the Kumasi Technical University and a staunch member of the NPP, Edmund Oppong Peprah, has urged the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, to humbly step down for other equally competent members of the party to take over the finance ministry.
Many Ghanaians, including NPP MPs, are calling for the dismissal of the finance minister. Ken Ofori-Atta over the current economic hardship in the country and the devaluation of the Ghana cedi.
Meanwhile, appearing before the Adhoc committee on Friday, the Finance Minister apologized to Ghanaians over the hardship in the country.
Speaking with Kwesi Parker Wilson on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the NPP member urged Ken Ofori-Atta to humbly resign as Finance Minister.
“I don’t agree with the censure, but for investor confidence to be restored in Ghana and businesses to thrive again, Ken should make way for a new person to handle the finance ministry.” He stated.
The staunch NPP member believes the party has a lot of other competent individuals to handle the economy should Ofori Atta step down as finance minister.
He further added that the finance minister should be allowed to present the national budget to parliament before he leaves his position.
