Mahmud Kabore, Ashanti Regional Communications Team Member of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, has said that his party had a peaceful election over the weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
There were reports that violence erupted between the police and about 30 macho men after the police fired a warning shot in an attempt to disperse the crowd at the NDC Regional Delegates Conference in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, 13th November.
The report said, heavily built men who did not have accreditation were prevented from entering the Kumasi Sports Stadium where the elections were being held. The police arrested one of them but the macho men retaliated and the police fired gunshots.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Fast Time, Monday, Mahmud Kabore stated that, even though a gun was fired, no one was hurt.
“People were not hurt in the election even if a gun was fired,” he said.
According to him, executives of the party organized peaceful elections and therefore need commendation.
“Congratulations to the NDC executives for holding such a peaceful election.” Mahmud Kabore added.
