The only female contestant in the New Patriotic Party, NPP, National Chairmanship race, Gifty Ama Asantewaa Ayeh aka Daavi Ama has stated that she will not pay money to any delegate in the upcoming national elections.
The governing party will be holding its national delegates conference to elect national executives.
NPP aspirants are said to be paying huge sums of money to delegates for votes.
It could be recalled that former MP for Ejisu, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi disclosed that he paid some amount of money to delegates but lost the Ejisu Parliamentary Primaries.
Speaking in an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson host of Oyerepa Breakfast Time. Daavi Ama stated that she doesn’t have money to pay any delegate to vote for her.
“I don’t have money to pay delegates, not even Ghc1 but I will organize a thank-you party if I win.”
Daavi Ama condemned vote-buying buying in the NPP.
She said, “vote buying is a bad attitude. If aspirant pays you money to vote for him/her later you can’t go to them for anything because he bought your vote. But when you win an election and you decide to organise thank-you party that’s ok.”
She further pledged to stop vote buying when elected as chairperson of the party.
